Skill Level: Intermediate Knitting
The stranded colourwork Link Beanie pattern by Debra Kinsey Knits is worked over a 22-stitch, 12-round repeat. It can be made with a 4cm-wide single brim, or a 6cm-wide double brim, both in K1, P1 rib. The colourwork pattern can be worked from the chart, or the written instructions. There are two charts provided - one with a dark background and one with a light background. Work from the chart that matches your colours as it will be easier to follow the pattern.

Finished depth approx.
18 (22, 22) cm / 7 (8¾, 8¾) ins
If making with tun-back brim it will add another 2cm/¾ins to the depth (when folded back).
Choose a size that will stretch to fit your head size. it is intended to be worn with approx. 3-6cm/1¼-2¼ins negative ease.
Once you have decided which size to make, circle or highlight all instructions relevant to your size to avoid confusion when knitting.

This beanie has been made in several different 8 ply/DK yarns. The samples pictured are in . The quantities required may vary depending on the yarn chosen. Included are 50g ball quantities and approx meterage (guide only). The colourwork tensions included are to allow for variations in yarn, and to help you choose the most suitable size to make.
Beanie with 4cm-wide single brim
Main Colour (M): 1 (1, 2) x 50g balls or approx 65 (95, 110) metres/72 (105, 121) yards
Contrast Colour (C): 1 x 50g ball or approx 40 (55, 65) metres/44 (61, 72) yards
Beanie with 6cm-wide double brim
Main Colour (M): 1 (2, 2) x 50g balls or approx 100 (150, 180) metres/110 (165, 198) yards
Contrast Colour (C): 1 x 50g ball or approx 40 (55, 65) metres/44 (61, 72) yards
Needles and Notions
- 3.25mm (US 3) and 4.5mm (US 7) circular knitting needles, both 40cm (16ins) long
- 4mm (US 6) double-pointed needles for working the crown
- 4 stitch markers (ensure marker for the beg of rounds is a different colour)
- yarn needle and pom pom maker (optional)
